The PDP Reform Group has questioned the commitment of Kogi State’s former Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State.
The PDP Group, in a statement signed by John Jeremiah (JJ), said the fate of the party in the state is shaky if people like Capt. Wada, whose political structures, including his deputy and children, now align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The group also stated that Wada relocated to the Kogi State Government House during Usman Ododo’s inauguration, despite knowing that Ododo did not win the election in question.
The group also criticized Wada for collecting and celebrating a car given to him by the state government, knowing it was his entitlement as a former governor.
“As far as the PDP in the state is concerned, if the fate of the party is still being decided by a man whose political inheritance and influence are in the APC, then there is a big problem,” the group said.
They called on the former governor to clearly communicate his next political steps, arguing that his continued presence in the PDP is not adding value.
“Today, we all know that Hassan Wada, his son, was appointed by Yahaya Bello as the state NFA Chairman during his handover ceremony, and his sister, Halima Wada, is now appointed as SSA on Entrepreneurship to the Executive Governor of Kogi State.”
The group also recalled how Capt. Wada’s political structures endorsed Yahaya Bello’s candidate for governor, despite the PDP having its own candidate.
“We call on the former governor to be bold enough to make a decision so the party can know who remains and how to organize ourselves for the tasks ahead.
” Today, in Dekina, his local government area, the party does not have working structures due to the crisis,” the statement read.
