Group applauds CG Audi, says those blackmailing NSCDC boss enemies of progress

A Civil Society Group, Volunteer Media Advocacy For Accountable Leadership has drummed approval and support for the current administration of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi with reference to its notable achievements in the fight against economic saboteurs ravaging the oil sector and degrading the economy of the nation and its common wealth.

In a statement on Monday, the national coordinator of the group, Barrister David Enemali said the group has closely watched with kin observation the trajectory of successes and achievements of the NSCDC in the past years under Audi and warns against those behind blackmail against the cops.

The group said that those angling for the suspension or removal of the hard-working Commandant General were haters of progress and by extension enemies of the country.

Enemali said that the transformational drive that the NSCDC boss had brought into the security outfit was equal to none in the history of the outfit.

According to him, the NSCDC whose establishment Act 2003 of the National Assembly empowers it to provide 24 hour surveillance for public and private property, maintain law and order was ammended in 2007 where the functions of the Corps further strengthens it to bear arms and safeguard all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure which includes combating the activities of Vandals and oil theives amd securing oil pipelines, protection of all government utilities, disaster mitigation and crisis management, Training, Supervision, licensing and regulations of the Private Guard Companies in the nation have on the overall perspective and assessment shown that the NSCDC has grown to become an elite organization of international standard and should be allowed to continue under the present Audi led administration.

Since his appointment, Commandant General (CG) Audi has undertaken a comprehensive vision to transform the NSCDC, focusing on enhancing professionalism and aligning the Corps with international best practices. In his inaugural address at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, CG Audi outlined his plan to “rejig, revamp, revitalize, restructure, and reposition” the Corps.

“In clear terms, the trend in which the NSCDC had risen from obscurity to become one of the most enviable security outfits under Audi’s leadership is rather worth applauding than condemning”.

“Dr. Audi’s tenure has seen numerous reforms, including the establishment of the Private Guard Companies (PGC) and the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad. He has also reactivated the Agro-rangers and intensified efforts against terror financing and economic sabotage, particularly crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism. The introduction of the CG’s Special Anti-vandal Squad and the reorganization of the anti-vandal unit further underscore these efforts”.

The statement added that Dr. Audi’s tenure as Commandant General of the NSCDC has been marked by significant advancements and reforms, positioning the Corps as a model for security agencies both nationally and internationally. The continued support and funding from the government will be crucial in maintaining and building upon these achievements.
