A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Bayelsa State, Noel Dimi Inafa, has urged the national leadership of the party to kick start its total reconstruction at the State, Local Government and Ward levels in the state.
Noel Dimi Inafa, a Chieftain of APC from Brass Local Government Area of the State, made the call on Tuesday while responding to the Monday ruling of the State Governorship Petition Tribunal, which affirmed the election victory of Governor Douye Diri and dismissed the petition of the APC Governorship candidate, Timipre Sylva.
Noel Dimi Inafa urged the Party’s National leadership to intervene and ensure that the State structure is restructured for competence.
He said “It is essential for any political party to periodically assess its structure and leadership to ensure that competent individuals are in key positions”
“This is crucial for the party’s effectiveness, credibility, and ability to compete successfully in elections. Also, there is the need to address issues of greed and corruption in the party”
“Those indicted for greed and overbearing attitude within the party should be removed from positions of power. It is important for the integrity and reputation of the party. Corruption and self-serving behaviour can undermine public trust and weaken the party’s support base”.
“The party should ensure that an electoral process is put in place to ensure the election or appointment of competent and committed individuals to lead and manage the party. It is vital to replace those who are primarily motivated by self-interest with individuals who are dedicated to the party’s values and goals. Competence and commitment are essential qualities for effective leadership”.
On the factional crisis rocking the party before and after the governorship elections in the State, Noel Dimi Inafa called for the establishment of a reconciliation committee that will address issues of unity and peace within the APC fold, ” A reconciliation committee can help to address internal conflicts, foster unity within the party, and promote a sense of common purpose among members”
“Resolving differences and personal interests can strengthen the party’s cohesion and ability to work towards shared objectives. By undertaking these restructuring efforts and promoting unity within the party, the APC can position itself more effectively to compete in future elections and achieve success in garnering support from the electorate.”
