Gombe government extends closure of night clubs, illegal joints to LGs

The Gombe State Government, under the directive of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, has announced the extension of its crackdown on local nightclubs and illegal joints to all Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.

This decision follows recent demolitions of buildings in the metropolis associated with immoral activities.

Governor Yahaya made this known during a meeting with the state task force and Local Government Chairmen on Friday.

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, the governor stated that the demolition of the venues, known locally as ‘gidan galas’, aligns with his administration’s commitment to value re-orientation and crime reduction.

“To ensure the same extends to the local councils for a holistic value re-orientation and crime dismantling.” He tasks the LG bosses.

Yahaya pointed out the need for collaborative efforts between the council chairmen and the task force to pinpoint and target gala houses and illegal joints, which are perceived as hotspots for social vices.

“The fight for the restoration of social values and a crime-free society is a collective effort. Hence, the synergy between the state and the Local Government Councils for better coordination,” said Yahaya.

The Governor also urged the local government council chairmen and security agencies to remain vigilant and report any security issues to the appropriate authorities promptly for immediate action.
