…urges political actors in Akwanga LGA to unite
Governor Abdullahi Sule has unveiled plans to build a flyover and link road in Akwanga, as part of his administration’s efforts to improve infrastructure and promote economic development in the state.
Governor Sule made this known during the flag-off of the 2nd edition of the annual value addition agricultural empowerment scheme organized by Hon. Larry Ven-Bawa, member representing Akwanga North Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, in Andaha, on Monday.
This is just as the Governor urges political actors in Akwanga Local Government Area to, as a matter of necessity, forge a bond of unity amongst them in order to bring development to the area.
While promising to construct the over one kilometer road linking Andaha town to the Jos-Akwanga Road, he unveiled an ambitious plan by his administration to expand Akwanga through the construction of a road from the Aloshi Junction to burst out at the Mada Hills.
Governor Sule added that his administration will also undertake the construction of a flyover at the Akwanga Roundabout.
“Andaha is my home. Today, I will be in the office and I will ask the Commissioner to come and look at the road and we will construct it for you. I promise you Chairman, we are going to look at that road.
“I will also mention so many roads that we are doing. I have noticed there is no other area of expanding Akwanga as a town. For that reason, from the Aloshi Junction, I want us to construct a road now, we have already done the survey, from that Aloshi Junction, checking point, to burst at Mada Hills. That way we can open up that area for more industrialization and for more people to come in to carry some work.
“In addition, we are not only constructing a flyover but we are doing and underpass in Lafia. I believe it is also fair to construct an underpass at the roundabout in Akwanga and we are going to give the contract for the underpass in Akwanga,” he stated.
In line with the industrial policy thrust of his administration, the Governor further announced that a tin processing plant is to be commissioned soon in Wamba.
“In the next few days, we are going to commission a tin mining processing plant in Wamba, by the grace of God. Those who believe that tin mining is only in Plateau, we are now bringing a bigger tin mining operations in Wamba Local Government Area,” he said.
Governor Sule commended Hon. Larry Ven Bawa for his efforts in adding value to humanity.
“I am happy to see what you are doing. You are doing what I can remember any other person has done in the past. You are making the money to give back to the community,” he added.
He however used the opportunity to preach unity particularly amongst the trio of the Akwanga Local Government Chairman, Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu and Hon. Ven-Bawa.
“You must work together. You must work together otherwise you will see the opportunity come and just slip you bye and go. They will say you are not united. You must be united to deliver. If you are not united, each of you alone can not deliver,” he admonished them.
The Governor used the opportunity to also commend all the members of the state assembly, as well as some national assembly members representing the state, specifically Senator Aliyu Ahmed Wadada (SDP, Nasarawa West) and Hon. Jeremiah Umaru (APC, Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba), for their efforts to give back to the society.
On his part, Hon. Larry Ven-Bawa, said the agricultural empowerment scheme and cash reward are in fulfilment to the promise he made to add value to the people of his constituency.
Hon. Ven-Bawa added that the gesture is also meant to support Governor Sule’s agricultural policy towards achieving food security in the state.
“Accordingly, I have purchased two trailer loads of fertilizer for distribution to the people of Akwanga North Constituecy. The commodity is to be given to the beneficiaries free of charge,” he stated.
In their separate goodwill messages, Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu and Hon. Aliyu Bello, State APC Chairman, all appreciated Governor Sule for his passion and commitment to bring much needed development to the people, which is being emulated across board.
Other speakers at the event, including the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, and Hon. J. J Umaru, also commended the Governor for his leadership and commitment to the development of the state.
