Group exposes Kwankwaso’s letter to NNPP Reps members, demanding attack on Tinubu over Kano Emirate tussle

A pro-democracy group, Progressive League of Youth Voters (PLYV) said it has unraveled moves by the Presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Sen. Musa Kwankwaso to mobilise members of the party in the National Assembly to launch a veriocious attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the federal government over the ongoing Emirate tussle in Kano state.

The group claimed to be in possession of a letter Senator Kwankwaso wrote to all the NNPP federal lawmakers to implement as soon as plenary session resumed.

According to the letter in possession of the group, the NNPP leader accused President Tinubu and the federal government of being responsible for the ongoing Kano Emir-ship tussle.

The group in a statement by its National Coordinator, AmbassadorAbdul Usman Shaibu, on Monday in Abuja, said the National leader of the NNPP in the letter to members of his party in the lower chamber directed them to use the floor of the House to attack and blame both the President and his administration for the ongoing Emirate crisis in Kano.

Ambassador Shaibu claimed that his group laid hold on a letter dated 24th June, 2024 written to all NNPP members in the House of Assembly, asking them to use their platform when the House reconvened from Sallah break to condemn the President, insisting that the federal government-led administration was behind the crisis in Kano.

It will be recalled that Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State recently reinstated Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II after the State House of Assembly revoked Kano Emirate Law and dethroned Emir Ado Bayero.

The development has further degenerated as the two royal fathers are laying claim to the throne with series of court orders justifying the positions of the two Emirs.

The group, however, asked the National Assembly leadership to be cautious of any attempt by the NNPP lawmakers, especially those in the House of Representatives from using the floor of the hallowed chamber to spread unnecessary propaganda and drag tbe integrity of President Tinubu in the mud.

“We have it on good authority of a letter by Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to all NNPP members in the House of Representatives. In the letter, the opposition leader asked the lawmakers to use their legislative power to mount pressure on the federal government to back out of the unnecessary meddelsome in the Kano Emir-ship crisis.

“The former Minister of Defence charged the lawmakers to raise up and support the Kano State governor, Abba Yusuf.

“As a pro-democracy group, we will not fold our arms and allow the opposition lawmakers to either blackmail or use the National Assembly platform to attack the President and his government unnecessarily.

“It is a known fact that this allegations are not true. That was how the Kano State deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo accused Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser to the President wrongly recently, by accusing him of providing the aircraft that took Emir Ado Bayero back to Kano at the wake of the crisis.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a democrat, a stickler to the rule of law and core traditionalist, who will not do anything to tarnish the exalted image of the traditional institution.

“We call on Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and the Senate President Godswill Akpabio to note our concerns and do not allow unnecessary attack on the federal government and the President when the plenary resume.”
