Secret Service breaks silence on denying Trump additional security

The United States, US, Secret Service has dismissed claims of denying Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, additional security for his campaign.

Anthony Guglielmi, the Chief spokesman of the agency said the secret service added more protective resources to Trump’s campaign.

On Thursday last week, 20-year-old Thomas Mathew Crooks shot at Trump, in an attempt to assassinate him.

Trump survived while sustaining an injury in his ear, but Crooks was killed at the scene in Butler, Pennsylvania.

After the assassination attempt, reports claimed that the agency had denied the Trump campaign’s requests for additional protection.

In a statement, Guglielmi said: “There is an untrue assertion that a member of the former President’s team requested additional security resources & that those were rebuffed.

“This is absolutely false. In fact, we added protective resources & technology & capabilities as part of the increased campaign travel tempo.”
