Int’l Youth Day: Alia commends Benue youths for their resilience, steadfastness

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has commended the youths of the state for being steadfast and showing determination to rise above every obstacle in their quest for success.

He stated this in a broadcast in commemoration of this year’s International Youth Day on Monday in Makurdi.

Gov. Alia described the youths as the driving force for the state, saying he is proud of the strides many of them were making in various fields such as education, entrepreneurship, sports and technology.

He assured the youths of his administration’s commitment to ensure their potentials are fully harnessed, through the provision of various initiatives aimed at empowering them.

“I am proud of the strides some of you are making in various fields such as education, entrepreneurship, sports, and technology. Your innovation and creativity continue to inspire hope and confidence in the future of our great state and the nation in general.

“As your government, we are fully committed to ensuring that your potential is harnessed, and your dreams are realized. We understand that the development of our youth is a panacea for the development of Benue State. This is why we have embarked on several initiatives aimed at empowering you and creating opportunities for your growth,” he stated.

Gov Alia highlighted the ICT training for 10,000 youths in the state, a collaboration of his administration with the United Nations for some youth of the state to participate in the UN Volunteer Scheme, the ongoing renovation of Aper Aku Stadium to provide a platform for the teeming youth to showcase their talents, the construction a Fashion Hub with the aim of fostering a new generation of fashion entrepreneurs from Benue state, as some initiatives being carried out by his administration to empower the youth.

He promised to continue to improve the state’s infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security apparatus which he described as the foundational pillars essential for the long-term growth and prosperity of the state.

Governor Alia commended the youth of the state for their maturity and wisdom in the recent nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest.

He regretted the challenges posed by insecurity, much of which, he said, involves some youths.

Gov Alia urged those who are engaged in causing mayhem to lay down their arms, embrace peace and choose the path of constructive engagement, assuring that his administration is doing everything possible to create an atmosphere conducive for all.

“Your priorities are my priorities, and as we continue to work together, I am confident that we will lead Benue State to even greater heights.” He said.
