Ex-governor Lamido slams JSIEC over N5m nomination form

Former Jigawa State governor, and one of the founding fathers of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Sule Lamido has said no opposition party can pay the amount fixed for the purchase of nomination form in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

Lamido stated this while reacting to the price of forms for the chairmen and councillors via his official Facebook page.

It was reported that the Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, JISIEC, has fixed the price for the nomination forms for the interested candidates.

The price includes five million Naira (N5 million ) for chairmanship and two million Naira for councillorship (N2 million).

He said the APC had already won the election before it was conducted because indirectly the party didn’t want opposition parties to participate in the coming election.

According to him, “The APC controlled government of Jigawa State has WON all the Chairmanship seats of the 27 Local Governments and the 283 Councilorship seats in the YET to be conducted local government elections throughout the State.

“The reason being no opposition Party is able to pay the FIVE MILLION NAIRA for the Chairmanship and TWO MILLION NAIRA for the Councilorship nomination forms from the State electoral commission!

“While other states are engaged in protests over hunger and poverty, congratulations Jigawa for being the most prosperous State in Nigeria”.

All efforts to obtain reaction from the chairman, JISEC, Alhaji Auwalu Harbor failed as his telephone line was unreachable.
