Kano electoral commission reschedules LG elections to October 26

Following the recent Supreme Court judgement mandating states to conduct Local Government Councils Elections not latee than October 2024, the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSAIC, has rescheduled the state’s LG elections to 26th October 2024.

The Commission’s chairman, Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi disclosed this on Friday while speaking to newsmen in his office.

He said the Commission is also changing the release of guidelines and notifications for the Conduct of Elections to 31st August as against 15th August 2024.

“Party Primaries and submission of Names of Candidates to the Commission is now 3rd September 2024 to 14th September 2024,” he added.

The chairman said that Sales of Forms has been fixed for 15th September 2024 to 26th September 2024, while submission of completed forms is from 27th September 2024 to 8th October 2024.

“Verification of Candidates by the Commission and submission of Names of Political Party Agents, released of names of qualified Candidates and replacement or change of Candidates will all be done between 9th October 18th October 2024.”

He explained that publication of names of eligible candidates and elections has been slated from 20th October 2024 to 26 October 2024, while declaration of results and possible run-off is fixed for 26th October 2024 to 9th November 2024.
