Okolaba, Okuama communities sign peace pact in Delta over Soldier Killing

Following an enlarged stakeholders meeting of traditional rulers, community chairmen, and executives, the Okolaba and Okuama Communities in Bomadi and Ughelli South Local Government Areas of Delta State on Saturday signed a peace pact.

The signing took place at the Governor’s Annex in Warri, according to report.

The peace pact aims to resolve the boundary dispute between the Urhobo-dominated Okuama Community and its neighboring Ijaw-owned Okoloba Community.

Present at the signing of the peace pact were the Chairmen of the two Local Government Councils, Hon. Andaye Rawlings Dagidi (Bomadi) and Rt. Hon. Lucky Avweromre (Ughelli South), respectively.

The two communities had been engaged in an age-long boundary dispute, during which 17 military officers and soldiers were killed on March 24 this year.
