The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, has presented cheques totaling N83,102,207.38 to 45 next of kin of deceased personnel, according to the Nigeria Police Force, Kano State Command spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna.
The statement was to alleviate the burden of the families of deceased and injured police officers in the line of duty.
“The presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries is a transparent demonstration of the Inspector-General of Police’s commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families.
“This gesture is the reinforcement of the Police Force’s commitment and dedication to supporting its officers and their immediate family members,” the statement said.
According to the statement, the beneficiaries are deceased police officers’ next of kin and police victims of accidents.
The beneficiaries specifically thanked the IGP and promised to make good use of the money, saying it came at a time it was most needed.
“The IGP’s welfare scheme is a testament to the police force’s commitment to its personnel and their families. This initiative has benefited numerous families across the country, demonstrating the force’s resolve to care for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
“The presentation ceremony serves as a reminder of the police force’s dedication to its personnel and their families. It underscores the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by officers in the line of duty and providing support during times of need,” it said.
