Abia govt denies sacking 8 directors in broadcast house

Abia State government has said that it did not sack eight directors working in the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA).

It explained that the directors proceeded on their retirement leave.

The Special Adviser to Governor Alex Otti on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma stated this in a press release.

It was alleged that the State government sacked the directors who were not yet due for retirement.

But making the position of the State government known, Ekeoma described the allegations as false, baseless and unfounded.

“There are eight Directors who just proceeded on their retirement leave in line with civil service rules and none of them was sacked.

“This is to emphatically state that the report is false, baseless and unfounded.

“It is part of the ongoing anti people and anti Abia campaign of calumny being driven by some embittered opposition elements”, Ekeoma said.

The Special Adviser, who appealed to Abia public to ignore the sack allegations, accused ‘some persons’ of launching reckless media onslaughts geared towards inciting the public against the government through false misrepresentations.

He added that the present administration would continue in its efforts to reform and sanitise the state’s civil service with a view to creating a functional and robust civil service that would outlive the present administration.
