A Special Tribute to “A Mother of the Blessed Sacrament” (Late Mrs Teresa Odia)

“Udu-Jesu no mwan foo, imuetimwen hia Yan wê! Ijesu ‘n’ osa mwen ighō we vbu vbe Sacrament odivbo no mwan foo!!!”

“Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you…Jesus my God, I praise you in the most holy sacrament!!!”

These were the beautiful words of prayer she  taught the young Catholic girls of St Augustine Parish in Benin City over 30 decades ago, to proclaim the true existence of Christ as they through beautiful flowers in the Corpus Christi procession at the yearly feast of Christ the Universal King.

Mama Teresa Odia; mother of a one time National and Archdiocesan Promoter of Pages of the Blessed Sacrament, Sir S.I.Odia, Br Kingsley , Fr Cyril (SDB) , Sis Ivie & ,Br Omon , has taken a bow out of  this sinful world.

All her Children were devoted members and Crusaders of the Blessed Sacrament.

My deepest condolences to the Odia family.

Mama was indeed a role model to many of the younger people back then.

She was a true lover of God & mother Mary, a strong adorer of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.

She lived well, and as “Iye-Efada” (Mother of a Priest) She has done her very best in insuring that all her children remains as devoted Catholics till date.

She will be grately missed by many devoted Christ faithful, especially members of the Augustinian Community in Benin City

Rest on our dearly beloved mother and Iye -Efada…

May God who has called her to himself grant her a place of refreshment, light and peace, Amen

May her beautiful soul & souls of all the faithful departed through the mercies of God rest in perfect peace

May God grant the family & her loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

*The House of Sheriff condole with the Odias
