Nigerian Governor Reduces Working Hour for Civil Servants to Observe Ramadan

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the reduction of official working hours for the state civil servants during the month of Ramadan.

This is contained in a statement signed by the state Commissioner for Establishment, Pension and Training, Awwal Dogondaji, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital, on Monday.

Recall that the state government had last week, as part of preparation for the fasting period, issued a circular directing both public and private schools to bring the second term to end on Friday to allow the Muslim faithful to participate in the fasting.

The commissioner said, “The newly approved hours for the state civil servants from Monday to Thursday is now from 8am to 1pm, while Friday is from 8am to 12pm.”

He added that the normal working hours would resume at the end of the Ramadan period.

He also urged people to remain steadfast in prayer for prevailing peace and stability in the state and Nigeria at large.
