The management of Nizamiye Hospital, Abuja, has refuted claims that it delayed a critical medical procedure due to incomplete payment, stating that no surgery was scheduled and the hospital does not offer stem cell therapy.
This clarification follows media reports suggesting that the hospital declined a life-saving intervention due to a shortfall in payment.
Speaking on behalf of the hospital, Public Relations Officer Mr. Mohammed Abubakar clarified that the only procedure carried out was successfully completed, and no further surgery was planned during the patient’s admission.
“There was no surgery planned beyond the procedure already completed,” he said. “A recommendation was made for stem cell therapy, which is not offered by our facility. We only assist families in connecting with external providers when requested.”
The hospital emphasized that stem cell treatments are coordinated through international partners and not performed in-house.
Addressing allegations of outstanding payments, the hospital dismissed the claims, affirming that there was no record of partial payments for any procedure related to stem cell therapy.
“There is no record of any $15,000 payment or unpaid balance related to stem cell treatment,” the hospital stated. “In fact, available funds remain in the patient’s hospital account. If there is any contrary information, we encourage those concerned to provide evidence.”
Nizamiye Hospital reiterated that no advance payment was requested for any in-house procedure and reaffirmed its commitment to professional and ethical medical care.
