OGACI Founder Calls for Urgent Investment in Girl Child Empowerment on International Day

The Oreva Girl Child Initiative (OGACI) joined the world in celebrating the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child, with its President and Founder, Mrs. Oreva Mathilda Egbi, issuing a powerful call to action for the enhanced education, protection, and empowerment of girls, especially those in underserved communities.

Speaking under the theme “Empowering Her Voice, Securing Her Future,” Mrs. Egbi stressed the critical importance of investing in the potential of every girl, linking her success directly to the strength of her community.

“Every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, to lead, and to live free from fear, discrimination, or limitation,” Mrs. Egbi stated. “At OGACI, we believe that when a girl is empowered, entire families and communities are strengthened. Our collective responsibility is to ensure that no girl is left behind.”

Focus on Safety and Digital Literacy
Mrs. Egbi highlighted OGACI’s deep commitment to two crucial areas: preventing child sexual abuse and advancing digital literacy.

The initiative is actively working to prevent abuse through safety and body education, equipping girls to understand their rights, recognize boundaries, and speak up confidently.

Simultaneously, OGACI is ensuring girls are prepared for the future by teaching them the skills and awareness needed to navigate the online space safely and productively.

“We are raising a generation of girls who are informed, confident, and digitally equipped,” she remarked.

“Our goal is to ensure that safety, self-worth, and digital literacy are not seen as privileges but as essential lifestyles for growth and progress.”

Reaffirming the initiative’s dedication to sustainable national development, Mrs. Egbi pointed to OGACI’s ongoing programmes in education, mentorship, leadership development, and advocacy.

She noted that the 2025 theme is a powerful reminder that supporting girls’ aspirations is more than a kind gesture—it’s a strategic investment.

“This year’s theme, ‘Empowering Her Voice, Securing Her Future,’ reminds us that listening to girls and supporting their aspirations is not just an act of kindness—it is a strategic investment in our collective future,” she added.

Mrs. Egbi concluded by urging government agencies, civil society organizations, and private sector stakeholders to forge strong collaborations.

The goal is to create safe, inclusive, and technology-driven environments where every girl can learn, innovate, and lead with confidence.

OGACI pledges to continue its work to promote a world where every girl grows up safe, educated, and empowered to fulfill her potential.
