Agency,Dangote Foundation strengthen partnership to expand social protection for Kano residents

The Kano State Social Protection Agency (KASPA) reaffirmed its commitment to deepen collaboration with the Aliko Dangote Foundation in order to improve social‑protection programmes for the poor and vulnerable across the state.

The Director‑General of KASPA, Dr Fatima  Abdullahi, made the announcement during a courtesy visit to the Foundation’s office.

This is contained in a statement issued Director, Public Enlightenment, Rabiu Kura in Kano on Friday.

Abdullahi was accompanied by a high‑level delegation of KASPA directors.

She reiterated KASPA’s mandate to coordinate, implement and monitor all social‑protection activities in Kano State, with the aim of reducing poverty, enhancing social inclusion and strengthening livelihoods in the 44 local government areas.

Abdullahi thanked  Gov. Abba Yusuf for the Dangote foundation’s long‑standing humanitarian and development support in Kano, stating that its programmes aligned closely with the state’s vision of a robust, inclusive safety‑net system.

She appealed for a stronger partnership, saying: “Given Kano’s size and population, a deepened collaboration between KASPA and the Dangote foundation will deliver far‑reaching benefits for vulnerable households.

“The Foundation has much to offer in social protection, and working together will multiply impact for our people.”

Responding, Alhaji Sunusi  Abdulkadir, representing the foundation, praised KASPA’s establishment and clear mandate.

He outlined the foundation’s micro‑grant programmes in 17 states, annual social palliatives and humanitarian initiatives, and assured continued support and inclusion of KASPA in future interventions.

The visit marked a significant step toward a stronger institutional partnership aimed at improving access to social‑protection services for millions of Kano residents, especially the most vulnerable.
