Hadejia river basin authority to address erosion in Jigawa  – Official

Hadejia Jam’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), says it will adopt proactive measures to control erosion that is hampering irrigation in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa.

Its Managing Director, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, said this in an interview on Friday in Kano.

He said that he led a team of engineers on inspection tour, who conducted a comprehensive assessment of the damage with a view to mitigate the disaster.

“The also inspected gully‑erosion sites to determine appropriate intervention measures,” he said.

Bichi said the authority would construct drains and apply professional guidelines to ensure effective erosion control and improved irrigation activities.

The manager reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to encourage agricultural productivity to achieve food security in the country.
