Hon. Irene Osobase, Director-General of the Train a Woman, You Train a Nation initiative, has called for increased youth participation and stronger community involvement in the governance of Esan North-East Local Government Area.
Speaking on the future of the local government, Hon. Osobase emphasized that sustainable development can only be achieved when young people, women, and grassroots communities are actively involved in decision-making processes. She noted that the energy, creativity, and innovation of the youth are essential assets for effective local governance.
According to her, community-centered leadership is key to addressing developmental challenges at the local level. Policies designed with direct input from residents, she said, are more likely to reflect real needs and promote social stability, economic growth, and unity across wards and communities.
Drawing from her experience as DG of Train a Woman, You Train a Nation, Hon. Osobase reiterated her long-standing commitment to empowerment as a tool for transformation. She stressed that investing in education, skills acquisition, and civic awareness—especially among young people and women—creates a solid foundation for long-term development.
She encouraged residents of Esan North-East to remain actively engaged in governance, urging them to participate in community dialogues, hold leaders accountable, and contribute constructively to policies that promote transparency, inclusion, and progress.
