Ghana has recorded another remarkable milestone on the international sports stage as Lance Corporal Rita Boateng Nkansah, a prison officer at Awutu Camp Prison, has been awarded a FIFA badge, qualifying her to officiate international football matches during the 2026 season.

The achievement places L/Cpl. Nkansah among an elite group of referees recognized by FIFA for their competence, discipline, and commitment to the global standards of officiating. Her new status means she can now take charge of matches beyond Ghana’s borders, representing both the Ghana Prisons Service and the nation at large on the world stage.

Her rise is being celebrated as a powerful example of excellence, determination, and the growing impact of Ghanaian women in sports officiating. Many have praised her accomplishment as proof that dedication and professionalism can open doors to global recognition, regardless of one’s primary profession.
