President John Dramani Mahama has announced bold steps to strengthen Ghanaโ€™s national defense architecture with plans to establish the countryโ€™s first Cyber and Electronic Warfare Centre at the Tamale Airforce Base.

The proposed facility is expected to enhance Ghanaโ€™s capacity to counter modern security threats, particularly in the areas of cybercrime, electronic surveillance, and digital warfare. According to the President, the initiative reflects the governmentโ€™s commitment to adapting the nationโ€™s military capabilities to evolving global and regional security challenges.

In a related move to improve operational efficiency, President Mahama also handed over a fleet of vehicles to the Ghana Armed Forces, aimed at boosting mobility, logistics, and rapid response across military operations nationwide.

Military commanders and security experts have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that will modernize Ghanaโ€™s defense systems and better equip the armed forces to safeguard national sovereignty.

The announcement underscores a broader strategy to invest in technology-driven security solutions while providing the military with the tools needed to operate effectively in an increasingly complex security environment.
