Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have recorded major operational successes against terrorist groups in the North East, killing scores of fighters, recovering heavy weapons and repelling a coordinated drone-supported attack, the military said on Wednesday.

In a coordinated dawn operation on 28 January 2026, troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Sector 1, carried out a surprise night attack at Bula Dalo, neutralising more than 12 terrorists.
The assault forced surviving fighters to flee in disarray, while troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, one PKT anti-aircraft gun, one rocket-propelled grenade launcher and one multiple grenade launcher.
In a separate, deliberate operation at the Garno terrorist camp, Sector 1 troops further degraded terrorist capabilities by killing six more fighters, destroying their life-support structures and recovering a large cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition and other items.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of 29 January 2026, troops of Sector 2, Operation HADIN KAI, at Sabon Gari came under attack by ISWAP terrorists supported by multiple armed drones.
Although the attackers briefly breached part of the defensive position, troops swiftly repelled the assault, held their ground and restored full control with timely reinforcements from nearby locations.
The military confirmed that some soldiers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed during the defence of the location. An excavator and a lowbed vehicle were also damaged by the armed drone attack. Exploitation of the area is ongoing as operations continue to deny terrorists freedom of action.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their gallantry and urged them to remain vigilant and aggressive in confronting terrorist threats across the region.
