Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s former Minister of Information and National Orientation, has spoken about Muhammadu Buhari’s role in the 2023 elections. He said Buhari did not support any candidate other than Bola Ahmed Tinubu, popularly known as Asiwaju.
In an interview with SPLASHFM1055, Mohammed explained that Buhari’s political loyalty was firmly behind Tinubu. He described both Buhari and Tinubu as two of the most important leaders Nigeria has produced, each contributing in different ways to the country’s political development.
Mohammed stressed that Buhari’s endorsement of Tinubu was decisive and that their leadership legacies remain distinct but equally significant in shaping Nigeria’s political history.
According to what Lai Mohammed stated,
“Look, I can say that any time and anywhere that, in his own way and nature, Buhari had no candidate except Asiwaju. Like I said, the two of them remain one of the greatest leaders the country has ever produced, each in their own different ways.”
