Fubara Pledges To Work With All Rivers Lawmakers After APC By-Election Wins

Fubara says he will collaborate with new and ranking lawmakers following APC victories in Rivers by-elections.

Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers State, says he is ready to work with both ranking legislators and newly elected members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The pledge follows by-elections into the Rivers legislature held on February 21.

Ukalikpe Napoleon won the Ahoada East State Constituency II seat, while Loolo Bulabari Henrietta secured victory in Khana State Constituency II.

Fubara describes their victories as well deserved, noting that the results reflect the confidence and trust reposed in them by their constituents.

“It is the beauty of democracy. When the people believe in your capacity, they will give you their votes,” he says.
“I look forward to working with them and their colleagues in the Rivers State House of Assembly for the progress of our state.”

The governor commends residents of Ahoada East and Khana constituencies for maintaining peace before, during, and after the elections, describing the process as a demonstration of democratic maturity.

On February 19, the Rivers assembly suspended impeachment proceedings against Fubara following a prolonged rift between him and Nyesom Wike, his predecessor and minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The political crisis previously led to a six-month emergency rule in the state.
