Wike Says PDP Reconciliation Will Continue Beyond National Convention

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has affirmed that reconciliation efforts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will continue beyond the party’s upcoming national convention.

Wike made the announcement while inspecting the convention venue in Abuja ahead of the event scheduled for this weekend. He highlighted that the PDP has adopted a consensus arrangement for elective positions during the convention, describing it as a major departure from previous practices in the party’s history.

According to Wike, the consensus approach is designed to demonstrate unity and a shared commitment among party leaders, signaling an intention to move beyond past internal divisions.

“The adoption of consensus arrangements reflects our determination to foster cohesion and a collective commitment among our leaders,” Wike said, emphasizing the importance of unity in the party’s ongoing activities.

The PDP has in recent months experienced leadership disputes and factional disagreements, prompting renewed calls for reconciliation among party stakeholders. Wike’s remarks indicate that the party is taking deliberate steps to stabilise its internal structures and prevent divisions from undermining its political agenda.
