Shettima Visits El-Rufai, Calls For Unity Amid Mother’s Passing

Vice President Kashim Shettima visits Nasir El-Rufai, offering condolences and urging national unity beyond political differences.

Vice President Kashim Shettima has paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Fatima Umma El-Rufai.

The late matriarch passed away on March 27, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, at the age of 96.
During the visit to the family’s residence in Abuja, Shettima urged Nigerians to prioritise unity and national cohesion above political differences.

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort for the bereaved family.
According to a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President emphasised the importance of collective efforts in building a united nation.

Shettima was received by prominent figures, including former Bauchi State Governor, Ahmad Adamu Muazu; former Chief of Army Staff, Abdurrahman Dambazau; and Abdullahi Sarkin Gobir Adiya.

The visit underscores continued expressions of sympathy and solidarity with the El-Rufai family following the passing of the nonagenarian.
