Arsenal Reach Champions League Semi-Finals After Goalless Draw Seals Aggregate Win Over Sporting

Arsenal advance to semi-finals after holding Sporting to stalemate, securing narrow aggregate victory at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals after a tense 0-0 draw against Sporting at Emirates Stadium, sealing a 1-0 aggregate victory.

Mikel Arteta’s side progressed thanks to Kai Havertz’s decisive late goal in the first leg in Portugal, which ultimately proved enough over the two matches.

Despite a bright start from the hosts, Sporting created the better chances in the first half. Francisco Trincão and Pedro Gonçalves both threatened, while a loose pass from David Raya gifted another opportunity. Geny Catamo came closest, striking the post with a volley from Maxi Araújo’s cross.

The atmosphere grew increasingly anxious as Arsenal protected their narrow lead, especially following their recent Premier League defeat to Bournemouth.

Sporting continued to push after the break, with Araújo missing a key chance from inside the box. Arsenal nearly added a late goal when substitute Leandro Trossard headed against the post from a corner.

The result sees Arsenal reach back-to-back Champions League semi-finals for the first time in their history. They will face Atletico Madrid for a place in the final.
