Mayowa Lambe Demands ₦100m From Ex-Husband Roby Ekpo Over Alleged Defamation

Mayowa Lambe demands ₦100 million and public apology from Roby Ekpo over alleged false claims made during podcast interview.

A legal dispute has emerged between Nigerian media personality Roby Ekpo and his ex-wife Mayowa Lambe, following allegations made during a podcast appearance and her recent remarriage. The situation has escalated into a ₦100 million defamation demand.

The matter arose after Ekpo appeared on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he made claims about their marriage, including allegations that Lambe secretly used contraceptives and misrepresented medical procedures during their relationship. The statements triggered public reactions and a legal response from Lambe.

In response, Lambe, through her legal representatives, issued a cease-and-desist notice demanding a public retraction, apology, and ₦100 million in damages, stating that the claims are false and have caused reputational harm.

Her legal team maintained that the marriage had already ended, stating that it “was mutually terminated with the full knowledge and consent of both families prior to May 11, 2025,” adding that “there has been no subsisting marital relationship since that date.”

The notice accused Ekpo of engaging in a “deliberate and sustained campaign of falsehood,” alleging that he used public platforms, including The Honest Bunch, to disseminate “fabricated narratives” about Lambe.

It further stated that his comments included “numerous false allegations regarding infidelity, financial dependency, moral character, and the existence of a marital relationship,” which it described as “not only untrue but… calculated to mislead the public.”

The document also alleged that his actions exposed Lambe to “ridicule, harassment, and reputational harm,” adding that she had been subjected to “widespread online trolling and coordinated defamatory commentary.”

According to the legal team, Lambe possesses “extensive and verifiable evidence,” including proof of financial contributions, documented efforts to support Ekpo’s relocation and advancement abroad, and “medical and fertility-related records evidencing joint efforts toward conception.”

The notice demanded that Ekpo “immediately cease and desist from further publication or repetition of all defamatory statements,” remove all related content, issue “a clear, unqualified, and public retraction,” and pay ₦100 million in damages.

It warned that failure to comply within three days would result in legal proceedings, including claims for aggravated damages and other legal actions.

As background to the dispute, the situation gained public attention following Lambe’s remarriage in the United States, which sparked renewed scrutiny of her previous relationship with Ekpo.

Her friend, actress Ruby Orjiakor, also publicly defended her, further amplifying the dispute.

As of the time of filing this report, Roby Ekpo has not issued any official response to the legal notice.
