Police Arrest Suspect Over Alleged AI Voice Note Impersonating Tinubu

Police arrest a suspect after investigators trace the source of an alleged AI-generated voice note impersonating Tinubu.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with an alleged AI-generated voice note falsely attributed to President Bola Tinubu, according to claims by investigators involved in the case.

Sources familiar with the investigation said a technology expert assisting authorities traced the origin of the audio recording, which circulated widely and purported to contain the president’s voice.

The suspect, identified by investigators as Ifechukwu Dennis, was arrested in Benin by a police team working under the Inspector-General of Police, according to the sources.

Investigators allege that the suspect created or distributed the audio recording and presented it as an authentic voice message from President Tinubu. Authorities are continuing their inquiries to determine the full extent of the alleged operation and how widely the recording was disseminated.

Police sources said an official statement on the arrest and the ongoing investigation is expected.
