Ronaldo Breaks New Ground As First Player To Score In Six Different FIFA World Cups

Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo sets another historic milestone after scoring in six World Cup tournaments across two decades.

Cristiano Ronaldo added another record to his extraordinary career after becoming the first footballer in history to score in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments.

The Portugal captain reached the landmark during his side’s Group K encounter against Uzbekistan, finding the net twice to guide his team to victory and further cement his place among the game’s greatest players.

Ronaldo opened the scoring early in the contest, meeting a cross from João Cancelo to register his ninth World Cup goal. He later doubled his tally for the night after finishing off a swift counter-attack, sparking celebrations among Portuguese supporters as he performed his trademark “Siu!” celebration.

The achievement comes just a day after Lionel Messi became the World Cup’s all-time leading goalscorer, ensuring the rivalry between two of football’s most iconic figures continues to shape the tournament’s history books.

With his brace against Uzbekistan, Ronaldo also surpassed Portuguese legend Eusébio to become Portugal’s highest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history.

Speaking after the match, the 41-year-old said he was delighted with the achievement but stressed that Portugal’s ambitions at the tournament remain his primary focus.

“I’m very happy. But for me, the most important thing is our work and the confidence we showed. The team performed really well and improved a lot,” he said.

Ronaldo added that while records are satisfying, helping Portugal achieve success remains his overriding objective.

“Obviously, speaking personally, records are always nice, but my goal is always to help the national team achieve its objectives.”

Now featuring in his sixth World Cup, Ronaldo continues to redefine longevity in elite football and will look to extend his record when Portugal face Colombia in their final group-stage match.

Beyond individual milestones, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains in pursuit of the one major trophy missing from his glittering career the FIFA World Cup.
