Afrobeats singer Mr Real rejects Remi Tinubu’s petty-trade advice, saying he’d rather become a bandit than hawk snacks.
Afrobeats singer Mr Real has criticised First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s advice urging Nigerians to embrace petty trading, saying he would rather become a bandit than sell akara or kulikuli amid the country’s worsening economic hardship.
The singer’s remarks came after the First Lady advised Nigerians to consider small-scale businesses such as selling akara, kulikuli and roasted corn, arguing that such ventures require little capital to start. Her comments sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many describing them as disconnected from the realities facing ordinary Nigerians.
Reacting to the advice, Mr Real wrote: “I go rather join bandit than to sell kulikuli and akara. And my target will be only politicians. At least if I am caught, they will rehabilitate me.”
The ‘Legbegbe’ crooner described the First Lady’s remarks as insensitive, suggesting that petty trading was not a realistic solution to the country’s economic challenges.
He also took a swipe at the government’s approach to insecurity, implying that bandits receive rehabilitation after being apprehended.
