The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has congratulated Mr. Raphael Oni on his appointment as Special Assistant on Digital and Public Diplomacy to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye.

In a congratulatory statement signed by the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, the council described Oni’s appointment as a positive development that would enhance strategic communication, public diplomacy and digital engagement within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The council said Oni’s more than 15 years of experience in diplomatic reporting, government communication and photojournalism would be valuable to the ministry and the Nigerian public.

Oni, who is also the publisher of Diplomats Extra Magazine, has built extensive professional experience covering diplomatic and government affairs.

He previously served as Secretary of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel, Abuja, where he was described by the council as a committed member who discharged his responsibilities diligently.

The NUJ FCT Council also noted that Oni served as Secretary-General of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria, describing his record as evidence of his commitment to professional journalism, ethical standards and collaboration within the media industry.

The council expressed confidence that Oni would bring his wealth of experience to his new role and contribute meaningfully to effective and transparent communication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ programmes and policies.

“We are confident he will use his expertise to strengthen transparent, timely, and strategic communications that advance the Ministry’s mandate and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the council said.

The NUJ FCT Council pledged its support and cooperation to Oni in his new capacity, while expressing optimism about a cordial and productive working relationship with him and the ministry’s media team.

The council wished him success in his new assignment and urged him to use his experience to further strengthen Nigeria’s digital and public diplomacy efforts.
