Ayra Starr will headline the NFL London halftime show, becoming the first Afrobeats act to perform at the event.
Afrobeats star and Grammy-nominated singer Oyinkansola Aderigbigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, is set to make history as the first Afrobeats act to headline the NFL London Game halftime show.
The singer will take the stage at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on October 11 when the Philadelphia Eagles face the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Her appearance will mark a significant moment for Afrobeats on one of the NFL’s major international stages as the league continues to expand its global presence.
Ayra Starr described the opportunity as a dream come true and said she was excited to perform in London, one of her favourite cities.
“I am so excited to perform at the NFL halftime show. London is one of my favorite places in the world and to bring Starrgirl to the NFL global stage is a dream come true for me. I can’t wait to see you guys there!”
The performance comes less than two months after the release of her third studio album, Starrgirl, which arrived on August 14.
The 16-track album features collaborations with Nigerian stars Wizkid and Rema, as well as British singer ZAYN and American singer Leon Thomas.
The project has continued to generate attention from fans and fellow artistes, adding to the momentum around Ayra Starr as she prepares for the high-profile NFL appearance.
Her scheduled performance further highlights the growing international visibility of Afrobeats and the increasing presence of African artistes on major global entertainment platforms.
