Kaduna AGILE begins life skills training for 7,000 girls

Over 7,000 girls in Kaduna State are to benefit from the one year Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) intervention project.

The training will be delivered in 71 schools across the state for SS1 and SS2 classes.

Sani Aliyu, the Component Lead Digital Skills facilitator for the Kaduna AGILE Project said the state has commenced the implementation of safe spaces in 19 Schools for the delivery of life skills training.

According to him: “The training will cover four main modules of life skills key topics (conflict resolution, self-determination, confidence, negotiations and leadership), health awareness (e.g. basic health promotion, nutrition, reproductive health, basic hygiene, menstrual hygiene management [MHM], GBV/SEA/SH awareness, mitigation and response, including safe reporting channels in the school and community and linkages to a referral system for quality support services and climate change (including awareness-raising and climate change adaptation approaches and skills).”

He assured that within one year of the training programme, the students would benefit immensely with a view to being self-reliant and employers of labour.
