The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the release of 14 Abuja bound travellers kidnapped last Friday.
The victims who were travelling in two buses belonging to God is Good Motors, GIG and ABC Transport were kidnapped last Friday at Inyenle, Ogugu in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, who confirmed the development on Thursday, however, could not say if any ransom was paid.
He also did not provide details of how the victims regained their freedom but said it was a combined effort of military, police, hunters and vigilantes that led to the rescue operation.
“I can confirm that all the kidnapped victims of God is Good Motors and ABC Transport have regained freedom.
Although whether ransom was paid was not mentioned, “Aya said.
Our correspondent reports that the GIG bus left Umuahia at 7:30 am last Friday and was hijacked at Inyenle, Ogugu in Kogi State.
The God is Good,GIG Motors and the ABC Transport were heading to Abuja with 14 passengers who were all adopted in Inyenle.
The driver of the GIG Motors was rescued the same day while others were marched into the bush.
