Lagos Police rescue 3 infants locked up by grandmother

The Lagos State Police Command, on Thursday, rescued three infants who were locked up in a room by their grandmother in the Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun area of Lagos State.

The command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the grandmother, identified as Fatimo Ganiyu, had been arrested.

The reason for the grandmother’s action was undisclosed, but the children: a girl and two boys between two and four years old, looked malnourished and were said to be wearing only diapers when rescued.

He said: “At about 4:00 pm, information was received at Ikotun Division that three children, a girl and two boys aged between two and four years, were locked up by their grandmother, one Fatimo Ganiyu, around Agodo, Egbe-Ikotun.

”The Divisional Police Officer immediately led a team of anti-crime detectives to the scene and the children were rescued and taken to the station, although they appeared malnourished and unhealthy.

“The suspect was arrested while the infants will be transferred for proper treatment and care. Investigation is ongoing.”
