Troops neutralize 177 terrorists, arrest 263 others

Troops of the Nigerian Army have recovered ammunition and neutralised 177 terrorists.

The troops also apprehended 263 other terrorists during different operations carried out across the country during the week.

A statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, on Friday, made the disclosure when he was giving a performance review of the week.

He explained, “During the week, troops neutralised 177 and arrested 263 persons.

“Troops also arrested 41 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 158 kidnapped hostages.”

Buba explained that the troops recovered 170 assorted weapons and 4,692 assorted ammunition.

He gave a breakdown of the weapons recovered as six PKT guns, 63 AK-47 rifles, three FN rifles, one SMG rifle, 29 locally fabricated guns, 37 dane guns, 20 pump action guns, one short double barrel gun, two double barrel guns, two single barrel guns, one locally made single barrel, six locally fabricated pistols, four bandoliers, RPG bombs, RPG charger, two primed IEDs and materials.
