IGP presents N47 million cheque to families of deceased officers in Kogi

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has presented cheques worth N48,681,738.48k to 22 families of deceased officers who died in active-service, as well as those who got injured through accident while carrying out official duty in Kogi State.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) SP William Ovye Aya, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha presented the cheques on behalf of the IGP.

He stated that the gesture was part of the welfare packages aimed at improving the welfare of the families of the deceased officers and to equally support officers who are victims of accident.

The statement added that the gesture was also to encourage other officers in active service to be diligent.

According to the Police PPRO, “The CP on behalf of the IGP expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and recognized the sacrifices made by fallen heroes.

“He further reiterates the IGP’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of officers, including those serving, retired, as well as deceased.

“He advised the accident victims to take care of themselves, while the deceased families should make use of the money to improve their families’ living condition”.
