Panic has gripped the Federal Civil Service following the abduction of six Directors from the Federal Ministry of Defence by suspected gunmen along the Kabba–Lokoja highway in Kogi State on Tuesday.
According to preliminary reports, the senior officials were traveling for an official engagement when their convoy was ambushed by armed men.
The attackers reportedly forced the vehicles to a halt and whisked away the officials to an unknown destination.
Security sources said the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, has caused tension among staff of the Ministry and across the Federal Civil Service.
The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, but security agencies have launched a manhunt to rescue the victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Federal Ministry of Defence and the Kogi State Police Command have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
This latest abduction adds to growing concerns over insecurity on major highways across the country, particularly in the North-Central region.
