APC Aspirant Rejects Nasarawa Assembly Primaries, Demands Cancellation

Beauty Ebu alleges no primary election was conducted in Doma South and vows to challenge declared APC results legally.

An aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Senior Special Advice to governor Abdulllahi Sule on environmental matters, Beauty Ebu, has called for the cancellation of the party’s primary election conducted in Doma South State Constituency, citing the need for fairness, transparency and justice for women in politics.

Beauty Ebu, who made the call while briefing journalists in Lafia, the capital, on the outcome of the just concluded APC primaries for the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, alleged that no primary election was conducted in Doma South Constituency, expressing dismay over the announcement of results and the declaration of a winner.

She expressed deep concern that the much-publicised commitment to creating a conducive environment for women participation in politics would be meaningless if the ruling party fails to uphold transparency, fairness and exemplary leadership.

Our correspondent reports that Ebu was among the four aspirants who contested for the APC ticket for Doma South Constituency.

Reacting on the outcome of the exercise, she further alleged that no primary election was conducted in Doma South Constituency, expressing surprise over the announcement of results and the declaration of a winner.

She, however, expressed deep concerned that the much-publicised commitment to creating a conducive environment for women participation in politics would be meaningless if the ruling party fails to uphold transparency, fairness and exemplary leadership.

She then urged APC supporters in the area to remain calm, promising that she would exhaust all available legal avenues to seek redress before taking her next political decision.

Meanwhile, efforts to obtain comments from the incumbent member representing Doma South Constituency in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Musa Ibrahim, over allegations of his involvement in the conduct of the election were unsuccessful, as calls placed to his phone line were not answered.

However, the Electoral Committee Chairman for the APC State House of Assembly Primaries in Doma South, Isa Abubakar, had earlier announced Musa Ibrahim as winner of the election with 4,253 votes, while Mrs. Beauty Ebu polled 275 votes.
