NSCDC confirms five operatives injured in Delta train derailment accident, assures public of safety along railway corridor in the state.
The Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says five of its operatives were injured in a train derailment in Owa-Oyibu, Delta State.
The command said the incident happened in Ika North-East Local Government Area. It added that the officers were part of a security escort on the train.
The State Commandant, Chinedu Igbo, said he visited the accident scene to assess damage and meet injured victims receiving treatment at a hospital in Agbor.
He said railway engineers and security agencies were working to determine the cause of the derailment.
The NSCDC assured residents that security along the railway corridor remains in place and that safety measures are being reviewed.
