Kano NDC governorship candidate Aminu Gwarzo names Rabiu Kwankwaso’s son Mustapha as his running mate after stakeholder consultations.

The Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 Kano State Governorship Election, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, has officially unveiled Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.

The announcement was made on Monday following the formal presentation of Hon. Kwankwaso before the party’s caucus and key stakeholders during a consultative meeting held at Miller Road, Kano.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson to the governorship candidate, Ibrahim Shuaibu, the selection of Mustapha was described as a strategic and well-considered decision aimed at strengthening the party’s vision of inclusive governance, youth empowerment, economic development, and effective service delivery across Kano State.

According to the statement, “Mustapha emerged as the party’s preferred choice after extensive consultations and careful consideration of several qualified individuals.”

Speaking on the development, Comrade Gwarzo expressed confidence in his running mate’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the administration’s agenda, noting that his experience, leadership qualities, and grassroots appeal make him a valuable asset to the ticket.

“Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso, a former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Kano State, brings with him extensive experience in public service, youth development, and community engagement.”

The statement further noted that the NDC believes the Gwarzo-Kwankwaso ticket represents a strong combination of competence, experience, integrity, and commitment required to address the challenges facing Kano State and provide purposeful leadership for its citizens.

The choice of Hon. Mustapha Kwankwaso is widely regarded as a significant boost to the party’s political structure and grassroots support base as the NDC intensifies preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
