Eno Commissions 6.475km Road, Says Development Comes Before Politics

Umo Eno commissions Amanyam–Mbiaso Road in Ikot Ekpene, pledging continued development while rejecting unnecessary political distractions in government.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has commissioned 6.475 kilometre Amanyam–Mbiaso Road in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area as part of activities marking the  39th anniversary of the state’s creation. 

The project was the  third among 39 projects lined up for commissioning till the end of September across the 31 local government areas the state. 

Speaking at the road commissioning,  Eno said his administration’s priority was to improve the quality of life of the people rather than engage in unnecessary politicking at the expense of development.

“Whatever developmental efforts that we are putting in place are tailored towards the overall benefit and improved living conditions of our people. We don’t play politics with the welfare of our citizenry,” he said. 

He lauded the people of Ikot Ekpene for their unwavering support for his administration and  assured  them that all uncomplicated projects inherited from previous administrations would be reviewed and completed for the benefit of the people.

Eno also assured the people of Ikot Ekpene of more development projects, including the Ikot Ekpene International Market, Compassionate Homes, Primary Health Centres and additional road projects.

He appreciated the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Aniefiok Nkom for his efforts  to  execute  people-oriented projects adding  that similar developmental efforts by local government chairmen across the State were encouraging and a confirmation  to local government autonomy.

The Commissioner for Works in the state Prof Eno Ibanga while presenting an overview of the road project explained that the 6.475-kilometre single-carriageway road has  eight-metre width and  constructed with 12.95 kilometres  side drains.

According to him, the road traverses four communities namely, Ifuho, Ibong, Ikot Udoe and Mbiaso communities.
