Kano North Group Rejects Alleged Plot To Replace Barau Jibrin, Backs Re-election

A Kano North group has opposed moves to replace Barau Jibrin, reaffirming support for his re-election ahead of 2027 polls.

A group in Kano North Senatorial District has kicked against an alleged plot to replace Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin with former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo.

Speaking at a press conference in Kano on Tuesday the group, Voice of Kano North said it still backs Barau’s continued representation of Kano North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group’s representative, Alhaji Habibu Jibrin Yancibi, said the organisation backs Senator Jibrin’s re-election bid, citing his effective leadership, good governance, constituency projects and legislative performance.

The Voice of Kano North credited Jibrin with facilitating major development projects across the district, particularly in education, infrastructure, and human capital development.

The group further pointed to interventions in Gwarzo Local Government Area, citing projects in healthcare, agriculture, water supply, and community development.

Voice of Kano North also dismissed the candidacy of a potential challenger, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, questioning his development record despite holding previous positions such as local government chairman, deputy governor, and minister.
