Tinubu Congratulates Kano Deputy Governor Garo, Celebrates Kalu And Lalong On Birthdays

Tinubu has felicitated Garo on his swearing-in as Kano deputy governor and extended birthday wishes to Benjamin Kalu and Lalong.

President Bola Tinubu has felicitated the new deputy governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, following his swearing-in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Tuesday.

Governor Yusuf nominated Garo to fill the vacant position created by the departure of Comrade  Aminu Abdulsalam, who resigned in the aftermath of the governor’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The 48-year-old politician, who had served in various positions, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government and as Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs under the erstwhile administration of Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, was the APC governorship running mate during the 2023 election.

The President, in a release issued by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, which solidified the much-needed unity within the ranks of the APC in Kano State.

Tinubu urged all stakeholders to unite behind the governor and his deputy, providing them with full support and cooperation.

He urged the new deputy governor to work assiduously alongside the governor to provide the leadership needed to accelerate the state’s development.

The President wished Garo well in the new responsibility.

Also, Tinubu extended warm greetings to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, on his 55th birthday on May 5, 2026 and commended his exemplary leadership, dedication to legislative excellence, and commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

The President noted that the Deputy Speaker has distinguished himself through his intellect, patriotism, and constructive contributions to lawmaking and national development.

Tinubu acknowledged Kalu’s role in fostering unity and collaboration within the House of Representatives, as well as his advocacy for policies that promote good governance, economic growth, and social cohesion nationwide.

Tinubu in another congratulatory message rejoiced with two-time governor of Plateau State and the Senator representing Plateau South in the National Assembly, Simon Bako Lalong, as he marked his 63rd birthday on May 5, 2026.

The President described Senator Lalong as an outstanding leader- one who stepped into a leadership position first as Speaker of Plateau State House of Assembly and later as Governor of Plateau State from 2015 to 2023, a critical time in the annals of the state.
