LASTMA arrest suspected kidnappers, rescue woman

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) arrested two suspected abductors on Tuesday.

The operatives also rescued a female victim inside their car around the Presbyterian Church in Yaba, Lagos.

A statement on Wednesday by General Manager Bolaji Oreagba said the suspects were nabbed by a LASTMA team monitoring traffic.

Oreagba disclosed that the personnel and a passerby chased the gang and later caught up with them.

They had tried to escape in a Toyota Corolla car with registration number FST 60 RJ.

“The suspects were apprehended following a call for help by a woman in the back seat. She shouted Kidnappers! Kidnappers!!” the GM said.

The victim narrated how she entered the vehicle from Maryland to go to her destination, Apapa. While en route, another woman seized her phone and other valuables.

LASTMA said during interrogation, the driver, Monday Amhe, confessed he was involved in ‘one-chance’ and operates along Ikorodu road.

”The driver’s accomplice, identified as ‘Joy’, confirmed that Amhe introduced her to the business”, Oreagba added.

The duo have been handed over to the Sabo Police Division for further investigation.
